Hero dog Kabang died at the age of 13.
Kabang, a hero dog from Zamboanga City who was known for saving two girls from being run over by a motorcycle about 10 years ago, died at the age of 13.
Veterinarian Dr. Anton Lim confirmed Kabang’s death in an announcement on his Facebook post, saying that he found her “lying motionless” near her bed.
He then thanked Kabang for the eight years of unconditional love, loyalty and joy she brought to his family, and also thanked her for the life lessons and the inspiration she gave to the world.

In a separate Facebook post, Dr. Lim shared some memories he had with Kabang and expressed how much she’ll be missed. Dr. Lim also reminisced on their time spent in the US for Kabang’s surgery and how she excitedly returned back home to his city.
Among the things Dr. Lim will dearly miss was Kabang jumping over the gate to greet him, staying beside him when he worked in his office, and even acting like a supervisor when he mowed the lawn.
“You were just there. Tonight, I missed washing your bowl and feeding you. I and my family already missed you Kabang even though you are gone for just a few hours. May we see each other again,” Dr. Lim said.
In another Facebook post, Dr. Lim shared that lots of Aspins (Asong Pinoy) were adopted after Kabang’s story broke.
Dr. Lim then asked the public to show Kabang their love by rescuing and adopting an Aspin from a dog rescue center or a dog pound and love them like your family.
