The DOH encouraged individuals who received Ivermectin capsules to report any adverse effects to the agency.
On Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) encouraged individuals who received Ivermectin capsules to report any adverse effects to the agency.
In a report on Inquirer, the Department of Health called on those who had received Ivermectin capsules during a distribution event in Quezon City to report to the agency any adverse effects that they may experience because of the said drug.
Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor and SAGIP Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta distributed Ivermectin capsules to residents in Quezon City on Thursday despite that the said drug has yet to secure approval for human use from the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), either as prophylaxis or as a treatment for COVID-19.

In a televised briefing, DOH spokesperson Ma. Rosario Vergeire said that they had given advice and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III urged those who received Ivermectin capsules to report to the agency and let them know in case they felt any adverse effects and the agency was ready to help if they need anything.
“Nagbigay abiso na po, and the Secretary encourages all those who received the Ivermectin capsules, kung maaari, magreport lang po sa DOH para lang po malaman namin kung sakaling meron po silang ibang mararamdaman and if they need anything, handa po ang DOH tumulong,” Vergeire said.
Duque said that the Food and Drug Administration should investigate the prescriptions provided to Ivermectin recipients and stressed that prescriptions should contain complete details of the medical practitioner or issuing physician.
