The BPO industry had secured more than 1M COVID-19 vaccine doses.
The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry had secured more than one million COVID-19 vaccine doses through tripartite agreements.
During a televised briefing, Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines President Rey Untal said that this was made possible via negotiations made by the ICTSI Foundation with Moderna and Go Negosyo with AstraZeneca.
According to Untal, the jabs may arrive in the Philippines on the third or fourth quarter of this year.

Still, the vaccination of workers in the BPO industry might happen earlier thanks to their inclusion on the essential workers or the A4 category expected to be inoculated starting June this year.
“Kaya later on po kapag dumating na yung mga vaccines natin na ating binili, pwede po natin gamitin sa mga dependents or even as a booster shot later on or even donate it back to the government,” Untal said.
Untal also said that they’re eyeing more tripartite agreements ongoing for Covaxin and Novavax jabs, adding that they’re also awaiting if there will be an official tripartite deal with Pfizer.
Meanwhile, Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano assured that there will be “no VIP treatment” or any form of undue preference to be given to Chinese nationals in Pasay City’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

According to Rubiano, the social media post claimed that a number of Chinese nationals were inoculated despite not being part of the national government’s priority groups for the COVID-19 vaccines.
Rubiano also said that there were some Chinese nationals who were inoculated because they’re legitimate Pasay residents and also belong to the A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (with comorbidities) categories.
“These individuals, like all other people who were vaccinated, passed through the normal process and during their registration they submitted their Barangay Certificates indicating that they are residents of the city and they belong to either the A2 or A3 category,” Rubiano said.
