Smart Communications rolled out free Smart WiFi in Las Piñas.

Smart Communications recently announced that the company officially rolled out free Smart WiFi across the city of Las Piñas.

In a report on Yugatech, Smart partnered with the City of Las Piñas for the deployment of free WiFi across the city.

Under the said partnership, the telecommunications company deployed fiber-powered WiFi connectivity in elementary and high schools, barangays, and the City Hall in Las Piñas.

Also, Smart had been working with the Department of Education (DepEd) Las Piñas for its distance learning program, turning over PLDT Home WiFi units for the said program.

According to Smart Communications, the free Smart WiFi allowed over 5,000 school children with connectivity, empowering them to pursue their passion in school or in their homes.

Las Piñas City Vice Mayor April Aguilar said that they’re able to create stronger bonds and to fulfill their vision of a modern city that valued family and community ties as they brought the benefits of the internet closer to homes and community in the city.

The said team-up was part of Smart’s “Live Smarter for a Better World” campaign, highlighting the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and community partnership programs.

With the Internet, we are not just helping Las Piñas residents to unlock more employment and livelihood opportunities, we will also be able to assist the youths develop their technical and entrepreneurial skills,” Aguilar said.

Smart Communications’ “Barangay Connect” project targeted to provide free Wi-Fi to barangays and to bring connectivity closer to communities.

The said project, according to a report on Yugatech, will soon roll out to key areas around the Philippines starting at Antipolo, Mandaluyong, Las Piñas, General Santos, and Nueva Ecija.
