Filipino Veteran Of US Military Assaulted In San Francisco
FILIPINO MILITARY VETERAN ASSAULTED – Another Anti-Asian hate crime has transpired, this time in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The victim of the crime was a Filipino-Chinese man who served in the US military. However, he was assaulted in public for wearing a “Veteran” cap.
According to the victim, the attacker weren’t fond of him wearing the cap. Afterward, the suspect yelled racial slurs at the elderly veteran and punched him multiple times.
Following the attack, the helpless veteran was left lying bloody on the ground at Ocean and Plummet avenue. Here was the cap the veteran was wearing.
Based on a report from Kpix5, the victim, Ron Tuason, was across the street from the suspect. Then, the attacker got aggressive with his him and charged at him yelling “Go back where you came from!” and “you caused this problem!” (referring to COVID-19).
The attacker also claimed that Tuason was not a veteran. Sadly, the altercation got physical with the Filipino getting bruises and cuts from the punches.
As per the report, Tuason was simply waiting at the bus stop to get home. He was carrying groceries for him and his family and even needed a cane to properly walk.
Tuason, served in Louisiana and Germany as a combat engineer for the U.S. military in the 1980s.
“Because of the color of my skin and because I like to wear a hat that says I served. The people who are overlooked, who are minorities, we served”, Tuason emphasized.
