Soldiers Will Pay For Non-Sinovac Vaccine Says AFP Spokesperson
SOLDIERS TO PAY FOR NON-SINOVAC VACCINES – According to the spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, soldiers who opt for other vaccine brands aside from Sinovac should shoulder the costs themselves.
Previously, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Philippines may receive China’s Sinovac Vaccine on Sunday with the roll-out starting on Monday. Meanwhile, among the top priority of people to be vaccinated are military and police personnel.
But, according to the AFP, the vaccination of Sinovac won’t be mandatory. If a soldier wants to get another vaccine, he/she is free to do so. However, they need to pay for it out of pocket.
Based on an article from ABS-CBN, AFP Spokesperson Maj. Gen Edgard Arevalo said:
Kung meron po kaming mga kasamahan na hindi po gusto na Sinovac ang ituturok sa kanila na bakuna… ay puwede pong pumili ng ibang brand ng bakuna ang ating mga sundalo…
Dahil nga po hindi naman iyon ang laan para sa AFP na kailangan mabakunahan, kailangan po sila magbabayad ng bakuna, brand ng bakuna na gustong maiturok sa kanila
Still, the AFP is required to get vaccinated said the spokesperson. He explained that getting vaccinated was an extension of their commitment to serve and protect the Filipino people.
