Smart Communications partnered with KT Corporation.
Smart Communications on Friday officially launched its 5G roaming service in South Korea in partnership with KT Corporation.
This would allow Smart Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers who were roaming in South Korea to enjoy 5G data roaming speeds using their Smart SIM and 5G device.
Smart Communications shared that its GigaRoam service started for as low as PHP 999 for a 5-day data plan. In order to use the 5G roaming service, Smart subscribers in South Korea just need to visit this link.
Smart Communications noted that its GigaRoam provided more data allocation with extended validity as it was designed to give roamers seamless connectivity while abroad.
The said service could be useful as the world prepared to ease travel restrictions amidst the worldwide vaccine rollout this year.

PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and Smart Communications President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio said that 5G brought their customers closer to an even higher level of customer experience.
Panlilio also said that with international partnerships such as having a partnership with KT Corporation, they continued their journey toward “bringing world-class service to the Filipino people”.
“We are happy to partner with KT in providing 5G connectivity for Smart subscribers who are traveling in South Korea. Smart Communications noted that it planned to launch more 5G roaming partnerships in order to provide world-class roaming services to travelers.

Smart Communications and KT Corporation were members of the CONEXUS Mobile Alliance, which was composed of nine member-telcos in Asia who claimed to be at the forefront of delivering innovative and customer-friendly services for customers of member operators who frequently traveled on business.
CONEXUS was currently chaired by Katrina Luna-Abelarde, who was the President and CEO at PLDT Global and head of International and Carrier Business.
Despite being the worst-hit telecom division by COVID-19, the group had continued to laydown roaming service improvements for international travelers.
