Ramon “Mon” Tulfo clarified that his appointment as Special Envoy to China had already expired.
Columnist Ramon “Mon” Tulfo recently clarified that his appointment as President Rodrigo Duterte’s Special Envoy to China had already expired.
In a report on GMA News Online, Tulfo clarified that his appointment as Special Envoy to China had already expired when he got inoculated.
According to Tulfo, his appointment as Special Envoy to China was “good for six months each time”, adding that he didn’t renew it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Kasi ang Special Envoy to China, ang appointment niyan is good for six months each time. Last year, di ko nai-renew yung appointment ko because of the pandemic. So technically, my appointment as special envoy had expired when I had that vaccination,” Tulfo explained.

And because Tulfo was no longer a government official, he maintained that there’s no conflict of interest on his part when he applied to be the local distributor of China’s COVID-19 vaccine.
On Wednesday, Tulfo said that he didn’t approach any Chinese official and instead approached only a local company that also applied as a local distributor of China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines.
According to him, he approached the said firm as a private citizen and not as a government official.
Meanwhile, the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Department of Health (DOH) were currently investigating the illegal COVID-19 vaccination issue.
