PFPA Names De la Peña As Recipient Of Distinction, Excellence Awards

PFPA named de la Peña as the recipient of Professional Distinction and Professional Excellence Awards for this year.

The Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) had named Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña as the recipient of Professional Distinction and Professional Excellence Awards for this year.

De la Peña confirmed that he received two awards from the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations during the 8th PFPA Distinction and Excellence Awards.

In a Facebook post, he thanked PFPA for the awards given to him, adding that it was a great honor not only for him but also for the agency he’s serving.

De la Peña also said that it would serve as an inspiration for a more committed service to the nation.

Maraming salamat po sa Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) sa mga parangal na iginawad sa akin ngayong araw na ito, ang Professional Distinction Award at ang Professional Excellence Award. Isa po itong karangalan hindi lamang sa akin kundi pati narin sa ahensiyang aking pinagsisilbihan, ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Magsisilbi po itong inspirasyon para sa masigasig na paglilingkod sa Bayan,” he said.

In a report on Manila Bulletin, De la Peña started his career in government service as the chief of the Planning Services Division of the National Science and Technology Authority (the forerunner of the Department of Science and Technology) in the early 1980s.

De la Peña also served as the director of DOST’s Technology Application and Promotion Institute for three years starting 1989.

Moreover, he was a former president of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers, the UP Alumni Engineers, and trustee of the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, among others.
