The AFP was aiming to inoculate 100 of its personnel daily once the COVID-19 vaccines arrived, according to Arevalo.
AFP Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo on Friday said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was aiming to inoculate 100 of its personnel daily once the COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the country.
Arevalo on Friday said in a televised briefing that their target was to inoculate 100 personnel per day, adding that they already had 72 vaccination teams that would be deployed across 47 COVID-19 vaccination sites inside military camps with treatment facilities.
In camps wherein there were no treatment facilities, according to Arevalo, they’re already coordinating with the local government units (LGUs) and the Department of Health (DOH).

Arevalo also said that vaccination for AFP personnel was compulsory, but the inoculation of Sinovac won’t be mandatory.
In addition, Arevalo said that they can also choose their own preferred COVID-19 vaccine brand. However, the cost wouldn’t be shouldered by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
“Kung meron po kaming mga kasamahan na hindi po gusto na Sinovac ang ituturok sa kanila na bakuna… ay puwede pong pumili ng ibang brand ng bakuna ang ating mga sundalo… Dahil nga po hindi naman iyon ang laan para sa AFP na kailangan mabakunahan, kailangan po sila magbabayad ng bakuna, brand ng bakuna na gustong maiturok sa kanila,” Arevalo said.
Some 100,000 doses of the 600,000 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Chinese government, which will arrive in the country on February 28, had been allotted to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
