Pfizer had committed to give supplies of COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines “as quickly as possible”
Pfizer had committed to give the needed supplies of COVID-19 vaccine for the Philippines’ upcoming inoculation program “as quickly as possible”.
At the continuation of the inquiry of the Senate Committee of the Whole on the government’s nationwide vaccination program, Pfizer Philippines country manager Andreas Riedel said that Pfizer was very committed to partner with the Philippines and to ensure that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was available for use in the country.
Riedel also announced that it was the company’s intention to make its COVID-19 vaccine available to low-income countries like the Philippines at a “not-for-profit” price during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We plan to make vaccine doses available in the Philippines as quickly as possible based on the terms of a fully-executed supply agreement and we are working closely with the national government to potentially close the supply agreement soon,” Riedel said.

Pfizer’s assurance of COVID-19 vaccine supply for the Philippines came a day after the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine an emergency use authorization (EUA).
During the Senate hearing last January 11, National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 chief and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez said that they’re eyeing to secure about 40 million Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses.
FDA Director-General Eric Domingo said that Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine was already being used by more than 5 million people worldwide.
