Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao on Monday appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to replace Health Secretary Francisco Duque III for this reason.
In a report on Manila Bulletin, Senator Pacquiao said that Duque was “embarassing” President Duterte for supposedly mishandling the Philippines’ fight against the pandemic.
In an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel, Pacquiao said that his message to the President was to replace Duque so that they could have comparison with other leaders who wanted to lead the health department should be given a chance so they could see their performance.
“Ang pakiusap ko kay Pangulo, na kung pwede, palitan na lang niya si Sec. Duque para maibsan naman yong hinaing ng mga kababayan natin. Ito ang problema ngayon, itong kapalpakan ni Duque. Kailangan natin ng vaccines as soon as possible,” Senator Pacquiao said.

Senator Pacquiao was asked about President Duterte’s repeated defense of Duque despite calls for his resignation.
In addition, the senator said that Duque should just voluntarily resign from the agency for delicadeza’s sake because it would affect the President.
Last Saturday, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Sec. Teodoro “Teddy” Locsin Jr. said that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would try his best in order to help the country get back into the Pfizer vaccine deal.
