Filipinos’ Trust In Vaccine Reflects Trust In Government – Roque

Filipinos’ Trust In Vaccine Proof Of Trust In Government

FILIPINOS’ TRUST IN VACCINE – Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the Philippines, President Duterte had set his eyes on a coronavirus vaccine.

Amid the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country, Duterte emphasized that the Philippines needed the vaccine in order to eradicate the virus. Whenever an update was made regarding the government’s efforts against the virus, the vaccine had always been the highlight.

However, according to experts in the World Health Organization, countries shouldn’t fight the virus with a vaccine. Furthermore, its Executive Director emphasized that the vaccine won’t be a “magic bullet” that would eradicate the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Philippines had already began preparations to procure COVID-19 vaccines the moment they get distributed to the public. As such, this sparked a debate on whether or not Filipinos trusted the vaccine.

Following this, a new survey revealed that sixty-six percent of Filipinos were willing to get vaccinated if the vaccine was available. According to an article from GMA, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said:

We view this as a positive development as this means that more Filipinos trust the current government’s vaccination program

Additionally, Roque hoped that more Filipinos would consider getting Vaccines for the new coronavirus as Duterte wanted all Filipinos to get vaccinated. Moreover, priority for the vaccine would be given to the poor, indigent, and other vulnerable sectors.
