Rabiya Mateo shows appreciation to people behind her MUP 2020 win
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo shared an appreciation post after her momentous crowning moment.
This has become a momentous event in the Philippine pageantry because it is the first time that MUP has its own pageant and not under the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.
However, the beauty pageant also went controversial as Miss Taguig Sandra Lemonon claimed that the representative from Iloilo City does not deserve to win the crown.
Because of that, Sandra, who is already a pageant veteran received bashing from netizens. Despite the controversy, Rabiya Mateo is just simply overwhelmed.
In her recent Instagram post as a show of appreciation to people who supported her, she said that winning the crown has not totally sank in yet.
“I’m still in shock right now and I’m still trying to absorb everything,” she said. Then, she thanked those who helped her in her journey.
She thanked her family and relatives, friends from school, and people from her workplace. “I share this crown with each and every one of you!” Rabiya said.
The newly-crowned Miss Universe Philippines also said that this will not be the only appreciation post that she will share because there is more to come.
“P.S. There’s still a Part 2 and 3 of my appreciation post. I wanted to make sure I would be able to mention everybody who helped me (smiley),” the Ilongga beauty queen said.
This received a comment from Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann who said, “Congratulations, Rabiya!! I’m a fan!”
Rabiya Mateo’s fellow candidate Miss Sorsogon Maria Isabela Galeria congratulated her. It will be recalled that the representative of Sorsogon was not able to compete because she tested positive for COVID-19.
