Gordon said in a briefing that he had requested the secretary-general and all their laboratories throughout the entire Philippines to open to PhilHealth again and they’re going to have COVID-19 testing from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

’Yan naman ang pangako ko, eh. Pag nag-simula kunin na kaagad lahat ng test gagawin namin. ‘Yung gusto nila ibigay. Kung ayaw na kami bigyan wala kami magagawa, but we are ready to test”, Gordon said.

Gordon also said on Tuesday that the full COVID-19 testing operations would resume on Wednesday.

Gordon’s statement came after the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. had released PHP 500 million as partial payment to the Philippine Red Cross on Tuesday night — about half of its PHP 930-million debt for the COVID-19 tests PRC conducted.

With this, Gordon said that the Philippine Red Cross was already preparing a letter asking PhilHealth to pay its remaining balance.

Prior to this, the OCTA research group said that the stoppage of PRC’s COVID-19 testing operations halved reported COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila and its nearby provinces by 40 to 50 percent.
