The Philippine Red Cross was “preparing a letter” asking PhilHealth to pay for the remaining balance, according to Gordon.
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Richard Gordon on Tuesday said that the Philippine Red Cross was already preparing a letter asking the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to pay its remaining balance.
This, after PhilHealth had released PHP 500 million as partial payment to the Philippine Red Cross on Tuesday night.
According to Gordon, they’re preparing a letter saying that they thanked PhilHealth for the payment, but they need the state insurer to pay the full amount in accordance with the contract.
Despite this, Gordon said that he won’t give PhilHealth a deadline for the other half, saying that he didn’t like to give deadlines because he didn’t want to paint people in a corner.
“Pilipino tayo pare-pareho, eh. Mahal naman niya siguro ang bansa, siguro dapat may isang salita tayo”, Gordon said.

In addition, Gordon said that they would ask PhilHealth to pay “right away” for future transactions as they would no longer allow the debt to reach PHP 930 million again.
Moreover, Gordon expressed gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte, who vowed that the debt will be paid to the Philippine Red Cross on Monday.
Previously, Gordon said that the Philippine Red Cross could fall into bankruptcy should PhilHealth failed to settle its mounting debt.
