The government was set to finalize the new home quarantine protocol by next week, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said that the government would likely release a new home quarantine protocol by next week.
This, as the new home quarantine protocol was developed as national officials said that home quarantine had contributed to the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in communities.
During a virtual briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that maybe next week they’ll have a “more accurate” and “more complete” decision including the protocol on home quarantine.
According to Vergeire, the Philippines already had existing protocols but these were being reviewed, adding that the observations of the national officials about the failure of home quarantine in certain cases were valid.
Vergerie said that the situation was “very dynamic” as it was evolving every day and that could change based on the evidences they had everyday.

Also, Vergeire said that when the National Task Force (NTF) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) went around, they saw how home quarantine wasn’t appropriate for a lot of Filipinos, which was the reason why the recommendation to ban home quarantine was put forth.
While the Department of Health had already issued guidelines on when home quarantine would be allowed, the health official acknowledged that there should be a protocol in place that set specific details.
As of 4:00 p.m. today, the Department of Health recorded 252,964 total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines wherein 62,250 were recorded as total active cases, 186,606 were recorded as total coronavirus recoveries, and 4,108 were recorded as total coronavirus deaths.
