There will be “no need” to test workers with no COVID-19 symptoms, according to DTI.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Friday said that there will be “no need” to test workers who showed no symptoms of coronavirus infection.
This, as authorities were seeking to boost the Philippine economy after falling into recession because of the pandemic.
According to Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, employers need to monitor their workers’ health condition daily and report potential coronavirus infections.

Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez told ANC that there’s no need to test if workers were asymptomatic — not even doing a rapid antibody test nor an RT-PCR test.
Lopez also said that workers would be required to have an RT-PCR test if they’re already symptomatic or a disclosure that there’s some exposure already.
In addition, Lopez said that Workers were encouraged to eat their packed lunches at their respective work stations, which should be separated by “acrylic barriers”.
Moreover, he said that what they’re trying to do was that they’re issuing a new set of protocols for business establishments in order to make it stricter and hopefully avoid the further spread of coronavirus disease after they reopened the economy again.
