This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 29, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #168 dated August 29, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,637 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 213,131.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Saturday were reported based on the total tests done by 102 out of 110 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,063 out of 3,637 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 16 to 29.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 74,611 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #168 dated August 29, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 29 only: Metro Manila with 2,030 new cases, Laguna with 217 new cases, Rizal with 155 new cases, Cavite with 142 new cases, and Batangas with 113 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 655 newly-reported recoveries and 94 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 135,101 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,419.
