The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 173,774 with over 4,600 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 19, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #158 dated August 19, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,650 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 173,774.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Wednesday were reported based on the total tests done by 97 out of 105 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,848 out of 4,650 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 6 to 19.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 57,498 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #158 dated August 19, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 19 only: Metro Manila with 3,092 new cases, Cavite with 249 new cases, Laguna with 194 new cases, Rizal with 189 new cases, and Bulacan with 136 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 716 newly-reported recoveries and 111 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 113,481 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,795.
