NCR might go back to MECQ if total COVID-19 cases reached 85,000-mark by July 31, according to the Palace.
The National Capital Region (NCR) might go back to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) if the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines reached 85,000-mark, according to the Palace.
This, as Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday told CNN Philippines in an interview that it was a “distinct possibility”, yet adding that it was a possibility that he wished will not happen.
Roque also said that Filipinos should take care of themselves in order for them to have a job. He added that he’s confident that Filipinos would cooperate to an “even greater degree” than they had shown.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 72,269 total cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The projection from the University of the Philippines (UP) was based on an assumption that the coronavirus disease’s current reproduction number would remain and government interventions wouldn’t significantly change.
Professors and researchers from the University of the Philippines said in a report that was presented to President Rodrigo Duterte that the number of people an infected patient could pass the coronavirus disease to was “around 1.75 and increasing”.
As per the report, a value that was higher than one indicated that the coronavirus disease was spreading within the country.
