The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported over 1,300 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of July 9, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health reported 1,395 new coronavirus cases wherein 1,184 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 211 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 51,754 as of 4:00 p.m. of July 9, 2020.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 225 new recoveries and no additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 12,813 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,314.
For “fresh” cases, 390 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 243 were from Central Visayas, 67 repatriates, and the remaining 484 came from different areas in the Philippines.
For the “late” cases, 53 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 47 were from Central Visayas, three repatriates, and the remaining 108 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Thursday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 37,627 total active cases as of 4:00 p.m. of July 9, 2020.
