The Department of Health (DOH) gave an update on the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of today, July 21, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #129 dated July 21, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,951 new COVID-19 cases wherein 1,348 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 603 were identified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 70,764.
According to the Department of Health, the newly-confirmed cases on Tuesday were reported based on the total tests done by 73 out of 89 current operational laboratories.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 209 new recoveries and two additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 23,281 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,837.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 45,646 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #129 dated July 21, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of coronavirus cases as of July 21 only: Metro Manila with 1,464 new cases, Cebu with 90 new cases, Laguna with 74 new cases, Cavite with 53 new cases, and Rizal with 36 new cases.
