The Philippines reported 555 additional cases of coronavirus disease, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday announced that the Philippines reported 555 additional cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
This, as 378 out of 555 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 177 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 21,895 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 7, 2020.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 89 additional recoveries and nine new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 4,530 and total fatalities to 1,003.
For “fresh” cases, 67 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 104 were from Central Visayas, three were repatriates, and the remaining 204 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 25 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 63 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 89 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Sunday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Aside from the total number of recoveries and fatalities, the Department of Health also reported 15,905 total active cases as of June 6, 2020, wherein 698 patients were asymptomatic, 15,131 patients were in mild condition, 57 patients were in severe condition, and 19 patients were in critical condition.
