Coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 28,000, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported that the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines already reached over 27,000.
This, as the Department of Health reported 661 new COVID-19 cases wherein 460 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 201 were classified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 28,459 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 19, 2020.
For “fresh” cases, 277 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 21 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 162 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 40 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 103 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 58 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Friday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 288 additional recoveries and 14 new fatalities due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,378 and total fatalities to 1,130.
Moreover, the Department of Health also reported 19,593 total active cases as of June 18, 2020, wherein 460 patients were asymptomatic, 19,053 patients were in mild condition, 61 patients were in severe condition, and 19 patients were in critical condition.
