Coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 27,000, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported that the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines already reached over 27,000.
This, as the Department of Health reported 457 new COVID-19 cases wherein 342 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 115 were classified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 27,238 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 17, 2020.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 268 additional recoveries and five new fatalities due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,820 and total fatalities to 1,108.
For “fresh” cases, 144 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 101 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 97 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 29 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 59 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 27 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Wednesday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Moreover, the Department of Health also reported 19,126 total active cases as of June 16, 2020, wherein 405 patients were asymptomatic, 18,638 patients were in mild condition, 66 patients were in severe condition, and 17 patients were in critical condition.
