All judges and court staff of RTC in Manila City Hall was advised to go under self-quarantine due to this.

All judges and court staff of the regional trial court (RTC) stationed at the Manila City Hall were advised to go on self-quarantine.

This, after two court employees of the regional trial court stationed at the Manila City Hall were found to have been in close contact with their close relatives who were tested positive for coronavirus disease.

According to Executive Judge Virgilio Macaraig, the concerned judges and court staff were required to undergo self-quarantine starting June 18 until June 30 as well as to conduct contact tracing to all persons whom they may have been in close contact with at the court premises for the last 14 days.

Executive Judge Virgilio Macaraig also said in a memorandum — which was confirmed by Supreme Court spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka — that judges may decide whether to proceed with in-court hearings scheduled for June 18 or not.

In a report on GMA News Online, the affected courts stationed at the Manila City Hall may conduct hearings via videoconferencing applications and may accept motions and pleadings that were filed electronically during the self-quarantine period. Moreover, the affected RTC judges were also advised to monitor their e-mails and office hotlines in order to address their urgent queries.

Executive Judge Virgilio Macaraig also said that they had requested the local government of Manila to disinfect the court premises at the Manila city hall.

As per the report, the Old Ombudsman Building in Manila and the New Hall of Justice in Mandaluyong City were also on “lockdown” until June 29.
