Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III explained his side after receiving backlash because of undergoing COVID-19 test twice amid a scarcity of coronavirus test kits in the Philippines.
This, as Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III explained that the first test was using a test kit that wasn’t approved by the Department of Health (DOH) nor the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
He said that his test turned negative, yet he took a confirmatory test “since I’m manifesting dry cough and sore throat for days and due to my age & exposure.”
Sotto clarified that he hasn’t received the results for the second DOH-approved test, adding that he didn’t ask to be prioritized.
Meanwhile, the “No VIP Testing” became trending on Twitter. As reported by Kami, several posts claimed that some big personalities were being tested for coronavirus while the COVID-19 test kits were still limited in the Philippines.
The Department of Health previously announced that it was accelerating its capacity in order to provide more tests in the Philippines.
