Google canceled its I/O 2020 physical event over COVID-19 concerns.
Google announced that the upcoming I/O 2020 event was canceled over global concerns about the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
This, as Google joined a growing list of tech events to be canceled this year due to COVID-19. In a statement, Google said that it decided to cancel its physical I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre due to concerns around the COVID-19.
The cancellation of its physical Google I/O 2020 event came in accordance with the health guidance from the CDC, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other health authorities.
Following the cancellation of its physical event, Google said that all guests who have purchased their tickets will receive a full refund by March 13, 2020, adding that guests who have successfully registered for I/O 2020 “will not need to enter next year’s drawing and will be automatically granted the option of purchasing an I/O 2021 ticket.”
As reported by Android Central, Google will still have its I/O digital presentation this year.
