Following the official launch of “NYS Clean” that was made by jail inmates, will New York distribute hand sanitizers for free?
Following the declaration of the state of emergency in the United States, New York officially launched its own brand of hand sanitizers which was made by jail inmates.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced at a press conference that 100,000 gallons of “NYS Clean” would be produced a week by jail inmates, who already manufactured soap, in order to meet shortages, adding that this product was “a superior product” and has “a very nice floral bouquet” after rubbing the hand sanitizers on his hands.
Cuomo also said that the NYS Clean, with 75% alcohol content, will be distributed for free to government agencies, schools, public transportation systems, and prisons, adding that it was part of the government’s “Corcraft” scheme in which jail inmates make dozens of products — including cleaning supplies, bedding, and clothes.
The “NYS Clean” will cost at $6 per gallon to make and was not expected to go on general sale.
This, as the United States has at least 22 fatalities from the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 and 566 confirmed cases, based on a Johns Hopkins tally.
