Canada reported its first coronavirus death, according to officials.
Canada reported its first fatality from the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 as the nation who have contracted the disease rose to over 70, according to officials.
This, as the British Columbia’s chief health officer Bonnie Henry said that the dead man had been living inside a nursing home at the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver, confirming that they have had a death in British Columbia.
The man was one of two residents who were infected at the facility with no recent travel history. Henry added that the dead man was in his 80s and had a number of underlying medical conditions.
As of this writing, Canada has at least 71 “presumptive and confirmed” cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 as virus outbreaks were problematic in nursing homes because residents lived in close quarters and tend to have weaker immune systems as well as their underlying health conditions, thus, infections can spread easily.
