DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II called the executives of DITO Telecommunity to have a closed-door meeting in order to discuss the status of DITO’s program.
DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II, DITO Chief Executive Officer Dennis Uy, DITO Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano, and DITO Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago were present in a closed-door meeting.
Honasan said that the DICT was concerned about DITO’s capability in order to fulfill its commitments as July is six-months away. However, he added, he was satisfied that “given the updates by the three top executives, DITO is on its way to deliver on its promise of cheaper and more efficient service to the subscribing public.”
Among the updates reported by DITO Telecommunity to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) were the secured deals for infrastructure development, tower building activities, the roll-out of crucial infrastructure, construction updates on network operations centers, and its projected timetables.
According to Adel Tamano, the DITO Chief Administrative Officer, they were on track “to meet our year-one commitment to the government and to the Filipino people” by assuring the public to provide “world-class telecommunications services.”
DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II advised DITO to keep the DICT in touch on all of its developments as the department was looking into ensuring the public that DITO may deliver their promised 55mbps internet speed as well as the more than 80% coverage of the population within the mandated five-year period.
